On January 22, 2018, Dean Doty, an avid tennis player, experienced a prominent pop in his right shoulder, bringing his active lifestyle to a screeching halt. Immediately, he knew something was wrong and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Donnis Harrison, a shoulder specialist, at Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists.
“As COO for Gulf South Mental Health and someone in healthcare, I was extremely impressed with every encounter from my clinic visits to MRI to the surgical center. Not only was my entire experience a quick process, the staff were second to none and some of the most gracious people I’ve ever met,” said Dean. “I expected good, but I got great.”
Less than 24 hours later, he was seen by Dr. Harrison and scheduled for an MRI to confirm what he already suspected—he would need surgery. One week later, on his birthday, Dean found himself in pre-op at Bienville Surgery Center, suddenly overwhelmed with fear of the unknown. “I was really anxious as I had never gone through surgery before, but everyone at the surgery center was so kind, compassionate, and patient with me, it really helped me get through it,” Dean said. Three hours later, he had successfully undergone rotator cuff surgery and was headed home to start his journey to recovery.
